my body

My body.

My body talks to me.

It tells me things I need to hear, need to know, need to understand.

My arms, they stretch, outward and up high, like two stalks of wild cattails

Peeking through a country side brush.

My lips, shaped like an ocean wave.

Move to the melody of the music that I sometimes spontaneously sing.

My hips, tired and sore.

I cup them in my hands and hold them with the softness of my inner heart.

And I sway them back and forth to the wind that blows through the leaves of the trees.

My skin.

The soft brown places.

Places where scars raise themselves in imperfection yelling loudly

Reminding me of what was when.

Places where dark and light collide in a juxtaposition of arguing souls.

My nose. A symbol of my father minus the freckles.

The sun on the opposite side of the world left pieces of its rays upon me.

Each has its own individual memory like a photo voice in my mother’s honor.

My eyes see truth.

A truth that cannot be seen only felt in the vibration of the energy

That rocks through my very core.

I have a throat where laughter often catches my tongue, teeth and belly.

I have legs that fearlessly wander into the greatness of the unknown

Righteously scared yet humbled to walk this moment on the path laid out before me.

My senses overwhelm me.

My brain is almost always on fire.

My shoulders carry the weight of unworthiness I sometimes cannot pause to untangle.

And, my body is a map of the never ending sky.

Every wound from a past life I carry forward -

Lessons I take from dark moon to warm daylight.

My body.

I place my cattail arms around it and hold it close in awe with the touch only a mother truly knows.

It’s ripe with the essence of free will and adventure.

Overflowing with the complexity of duality.

Drenched in a tender kind of love.

My body. The only home I’ve ever known in this life. And the only place I’d rather be.
